How to Install and Activate Office Home and Business
Whether you purchased Office Home and Business 2019, 2021, or the latest 2024, the installation and activation process is simple and takes only a few minutes. Follow the steps below to get started.
1. Pre-Installation Recommendation: Uninstall the Old Office Version
To make sure that the new version replaces the old one, you should uninstall the old Office apps before you start. If you don’t, the new version might not overwrite the old one, and you might still see and use the old Office apps.
1. Open Control Panel
2. Click on Programs > Programs and Features
3. Find the old Office version in the list and click Uninstall
- Note: For thorough removal of all old Office versions, you can utilize the Office Uninstall Tool. You can access the tool from the link here.
- * Please backup all Office files to avoid unnecessary data loss.
2. Redeem Your Key at Microsoft
- Visit setup.office.com > Click Get Started
- Sign in with or create a Microsoft account
- Enter your 25-digit product key
- ❍ Enter your product key in the designated field.
- ❍ Click Next to link the key to your Microsoft account.
- Verify Your Product Information and redeem
- Note: Here is the 2019 version to demo, after confirming the version and redeem, the installation package will be downloaded directly.
3. Download the Installer
- Choose the version compatible with your device, Wait for the installation file to download.
4. Run the Installation
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Note: The picture shows that the installation is 365 and office. But don't worry, you have the right version.
5. If you can’t find your Office version information:
- Sign in your Microsoft account
- After logging in we came to the Microsoft dashboard
- Click Subscriptions to verify your product information
- You can also download your Office Apps here.
6. Check activation status
- After installation office apps will appear in the computer menu
- Launch any Office app
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account, Office will activate automatically
- You’re all set! Your Office is now installed and fully activated.
